Reading up on the Blue House Raid attempt got me thinking that if successful (resulting in the death of Park Chung-Hee that is), aside from South Korea possibly retaliating by doing the same towards Kim Il-Sung, how will it lead to a resumption of hostilities in the Korean peninsula? And if so, how will the US as well as China and the USSR respond? The US would not take well to this, considering its efforts in keeping South Korea from being taken over in the early 50's, yet it's tied up in the Vietnam War, especially around the time the Tet Offensive occurred.

USAF B-52s would bomb North Korea. The USSR would probably condemn the American retaliation, but could offer little to aid North Korea. I think China would be on alert, but as of 1968, China was still reeling with the Cultural Revolution. Since the USS Pueblo incident also occurred just a few days before, we could see the same way how 1950 progressed. The KPA offensive would reroute U.S. and ROK forces before their supply routes are extended.
