August Bebel was the leader of the SPD in Germany before Friedrich Edbert assumed his place upon Bebel's death, leading to him becoming the first President of the Weimar Republic. What if Bebel lived another four years, not dying of that heart attack that killed him in Switzerland, and served as the first president of the Weimar Republic? He was a Marxist, so would that factor into his leadership of Germany?
