Kingdom of Ireland

Is it at all possible for James II to win the Battle of the Boyne, then set up the Kingdom of Ireland and somehow get deposed so that Ireland becomes a seperate nation?

a) Ireland already was a separate nation, and would be for another 120 years.

b) Yes, but as you probably know from the second clause, the Stuarts were all determined to be kings of all three kingdoms, and Bonnie Prince Charlie refused to help the French when they wouldn't promise that he would be king of England as well as Scotland and Ireland

c) Possibly, but this ignores the fact that there's England/Great Britain sitting next door, and she won't happily stand back while an unpredictable (and mostly Papist) country drives a wedge into her strategic backyard during the Second Hundred Years' War. Never mind all the English property there and the Irish-born English politicians who would use their influence to make sure the island was brought back into the English sphere of influence sooner or later.

Could'nt the Irish Parliment, after it deposed or when James died, get help from the French or Spanish? After all, France is right next door, and Spain would (i think) be more than willing to help.
