I'm talking after the Reconquista. Was there any viable way for a Muslim power to gain even a foothold in the Iberian peninsula again?
How large a foothold is enough?I'm talking after the Reconquista. Was there any viable way for a Muslim power to gain even a foothold in the Iberian peninsula again?
So if Aben Humeya kicked the bucket, they could have succeeded in establishing an independent, Muslim Granada? The 1568 Moorish Rebellion was openly led by Crypto Muslims who allied themselves with Moorish Christians who felt cheated out of equality despite their conversion. Crypto Muslims was still the majority in the Moorish population during this time. Having the 1568 rebellion succeed would probably be the last chance. They nearly succeeded in evicting Spain from the titular kingdom of Granada by 1569 before Aben Humeya kicked the bucket.
Even a permanent city on the Iberian mainland would be interesting in itself, I think. How large a foothold is enough?
