A Canadian peerage

This is just a thought. In the 19th Century, is there any chane that there could be a Canadian, Australian too perhaps, forms off peerage? It doesn't strike me as likely, but could it be done, a nobility in the "white" dominions?

the White Rajah joins his realm to the British Empire, in return for him retaining his rule over the area?

There actually is a Canadian form of peerage, the Nova Scotian Baronetage. This title was awarded as a part of a fundraising scheme for Nova Scotia in the 17th century.

How would this lead to a colonial peerage?

I figured it would, over the next generation or two, whittle away at the powers of the Rajah, leaving the Queen Mother with power over Sarawak, and the Rajah's family with a country house in the tropics & a peerage.
