  • I do not disagree with you and will be listening to a lot more of their productions that spark my interest.
I admire both the protagonists and aspire to be as erudite as them!
Oh. Yes I love books and my library and bank account bears mite testament to that afair.

  • Thank you, got it and played it, I found it intersting if a bit rambling but was rather surprised that James Holland (a professional historian of some note) should get the date of the formation of Fighter Command wrong by 2 years!

To be fair there are often little things they get incorrect but there have been some fascinating interviews - albeit cost me a fortune in books they are talking about ! . They started it in lockdown but now over 400 episodes. It's 'popular' ww2 history but still much better than the crap documentaries on history channel.

  • Thank you for the heads up on that article, I do not subscribe to Sky, is there any other platform I can access it ?
My MA degree dissertation had the title:-
“The Bomber Will Always Get Through”
    British Air Defence 1929-1939
    The development of Fighter Command,
    Radar and the ‘Dowding System’

So you can see why I would be interested in accessing this discussion.

It's a freely available podcast that is presented by James Holland and Al Murray - theresover 400 episodes so far but the one on the downding system was last week or so - search for '. ' we have ways of making you talk' on whatever you get podcasts from - to be honest if you did MA on that won't tell you anything you don't know but interesting all the same
