By 1939 Austria's Parachute Brigade had reached its planned level of 1 Brigade consisting of an HQ,with Engineer detachment, At Rifle detachment,Medical detachment.,
3 Parachute Infantry Battalions and 1 artillery Battalion. To airlift the force there were 54 DC-3 and 18 DC-4. More aircraft were needed but the government could not afford to buy any more at this time. Twelve of the enlarged T-39 were currently in service with the Austrian Army and another 22 were to be delivered by the Czech Manufacture before the end of the year and 98 in 1940.
