AH Question: Combat Potential of NATO/Warsaw Pact forces?

I've recently been reading some of Warsaw Pact's assessment of NATO forces and one thing that caught my eye is this. Essentially, the Soviets created a model to compare the combat potential of NATO and Warsaw Pact equipment. There are some peculiar conclusions - like the M60A2 being treated as a...

Koblenz'44? - WI V Corps exploits the Wallendorf Gap?

I was recently playing TOAW IV and tried out a scenario called Koblenz'44. In this hypothetical scenario, the WAllies commit the resources from Op. How effective would the ‘Advance Firing’ tactic be in 19th century warfare?

In the Napoleonic Wars most Infantry fought in close order: line, column or mixed order. The Crimea War and the American Civil War was not that much different. While rifle range increased (and thus skirmishers and sharpshooters became increasingly important) in both wars, the armies still...

    WI: North Carolina Campaign

While reading through my university’s copy of Brooks D. Simpson’s “The Civil War in the East: Struggle, Stalemate, and Victory,” I came across the observation that Federal leadership failed to take advantage of the footholds along the Carolina coast. AHC/WI: A different Overland campaign

One of Grant's plans for invading the CSA was to march 60,000 men from Suffolk to Raleigh, N.C and then to Wilmington. The 60,000 men would partially live off the land and put African Americans into union hands. However, Grant suggested that a large force on the Potomac river was unnecessary and...

What if Buford had survived/avoided his illness and become the AoTP's cavalry corps commander? How would this affect Grant's overland campaign? IMHO Sheridan wasn't a very good cavalry commander and could have played a more decisive role in Grant's overland campaign.
