If Turkey is in the war, that won't be as necessary, and it would give the Germans great position of they decide to strike the Soviets first.     I agree, that probably is the best POD for an Axis Turkey. All that'd really be needed it to allow German troops to cross their territory, not even a declaration of war, really(although the allies would probably see it as such).

    Exactly. It's still kind of a weak explanation considering the U.S Navy and distances between Russia and the Eastern seaboard of the U.S, but Shepard did give the Russians the ability to hack into the U.S defenses.

    I'm going to need a little more explanation on this---I was always under the impression that IOTL the Germans had far superior numbers, which is why the BEF was needed to fight in France despite the fact that it was Germany fighting a two front war.

    The Western allies may well opt to open other fronts following a failed D-Day, like in Scandinavia or Greece. Not only will they at least want to wear down the Nazi war machine, I'm sure there will also be an element of 'Let's get our hands on these before the Russians do'.
