Just read the 1st story and it was pretty good. Just a minor nitpick: the author has the wrong president in 1945. FDR served 2 terms in the Draka TL, followed Willkie's one term and then Marshall.

As far as I know Leo IV had only one child with Irene, Constantine VI. I paged through Warren Treadgold's "Byzantine Revival" which deals specifically with this period but it only speaks of one son.
well if I remember correctly both Sirmium and Nicomedia were capitals in the eastern side during the tretarchy. Constantine would probably know this and choose one of them since both were closer to the troubled borders that Rome.
Indeed, the Gulf Stream would no longer flow up North America and warm Europe. It might get as cold as northern Canada.
